Lab Support Experience
I joined the CIO in September of 2023 as the Laboratory Manager. This role is quite extensive as it involves managing all the laboratory areas and equipment plus the health and safety of the staff and students.
Prior to this role I have worked for several groups in the University and have also spent time in Industry working at AEA Technology, Harwell and Yamanouchi Research Institute in Littlemore. Most of my career so far has been spent working in Malaria Research as Laboratory Manager at the Centre for Genomics and Global Health, Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, Oxford. There I played a central role in co-ordinating the delivery and processing of hundreds of thousands of samples required for the various consortial projects in the MalariaGen study. The experience of setting up DNA extraction studies in multiple countries across Africa and the tropics has really honed my problem solving skills.
I feel very privileged to be part of the CIO, it is such a dynamic department at the cutting edge of cancer therapy research. No two days are ever the same.
