Research interest:
My current research focuses on how T cells recognise rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), a rare paediatric soft tissue cancer. I study fusion-derived antigens, which are small protein fragments created by genetic fusion events that are unique to these tumours, along with the T cells that recognise them. By investigating T cell responses to these antigens, I hope to contribute to the development of new cancer vaccines that can help the immune system recognise and target RMS cells.
Background:
I completed my BSc in Biochemistry, MSc in Molecular Medicine, and PhD at Imperial College London. During my PhD, I studied T cell responses to the oncoretrovirus HTLV-1 in individuals at high risk of developing adult T cell leukaemia/lymphoma due to suspected premalignant lesions, with the aim of better understanding immune responses during the early stages of cancer development.
