Liver biopsy is the reference standard for assessing liver fibrosis and no reliable serum biomarkers are available to discriminate between the intermediate stages of fibrosis. We used proteomics to identify novel fibrosis biomarkers in hepatitis C patients with different degrees of liver fibrosis.
